WHICH COUNTRY IS SAFER TO DRIVE? USA, EUROPE OR ISRAEL?

Deaths From Road Traffic Injuries

Annual Deaths in Absolute Numbers:

Assuming the population of USA 321 million, Israel 8.4 million, Euro-top 210 million (Germany 82 million, France 67 million, Italy 61 million).

World Traffic Accident Death Key Factors

  • Worldwide car accidents deaths: An unspoken staggering estimated 1.35 million people die each year as a result of road traffic crashes.
  • Worldwide Accident injuries: A huge toll on families and the economy are 20 to 50 million injuries from traffic accidents injured annually.
  • Road traffic crashes are a major cause of death among all age groups and the leading cause of death for children and young adults aged 5–29 years.
  • Income & car accidents: My research shows that the risk of dying in a road traffic crash is more than 3 times higher in low-income countries than in high-income countries. More than 90% of road traffic deaths occur in low-income and middle-income countries. Road traffic injury death rates are highest in the African region. Even within high-income countries, people from lower socioeconomic backgrounds are more likely to be involved in road traffic crashes.
  • Young male Vs. female driving: Males are more likely to be involved in road traffic crashes than females. About three quarters (73%) of all road traffic deaths occur among young males under the age of 25 years who are almost 3 times as likely to be killed in a road traffic crash as young females.
  • Speed: Every 1% increase in mean speed produces a 4% increase in the fatal crash risk and a 3% increase. An increase in average speed is directly related both to the likelihood of a crash occurring and to the severity of the consequences of the crash. For example, In the serious crash risk.
  • Pedestrians: The death risk for pedestrians hit by car fronts rises rapidly (4.5 times from 50 km/h to 65 km/h).
  • Car-to-car side impacts: The fatality risk for car occupants is 85% at 65 km/h.

USA: 10.6

Statistics of "WHICH COUNTRY IS SAFER TO DRIVE? USA, EUROPE OR ISRAEL?"

WINNER-SAFEST in Traffic Accident Deaths: ISRAEL

  • Israel‘s deaths from road traffic injuries are 1.61 times safer than the world average
  • Israel’s deaths from road traffic injuries are 2.94 times safer than the USA
  • Israel’s deaths from road traffic injuries are 1.44 times safer than Euro-top

Car accidents spur the most personal injury cases in the United States. When an accident happens, usually it’s because someone isn’t following the rules of the road, or isn’t driving as carefully as he or she should be. A careless driver can (usually) be held financially and responsible for injuries stemming from a car accident.

Several reports have also been published in line with Don’s work stating that global traffic deaths illustrates exactly why the U.S. trails the developed world on traffic safety: they drive too much and their laws are too permissive of deadly behavior.

About 1.3 million people are being killed globally by traffic crashes every year, a huge proportion of them pedestrians. Traffic deaths are now the leading cause of death globally for those between the ages of 5 and 29.

According to the U.N. health organization, seat-belt is known to reduce death and injury risk to about 50% in the front seat and 25% at the back. However, U.S. law does not require seat-belt use in the back seat, unlike the overwhelming majority of the world.

All I can deduce from these things is that the U.S. also lags world leaders in vehicle safety, falling short of the standards established by United Nations. Reports have been given extensively, for example, about how the U.S (under Trump) has resisted adding safety features to vehicles that would help protect pedestrians in crashes, even as their fatality rates soar. Thank you for this great research Mr Don

Poor design for the pedestrian roadway interface puts people in harms way. It’s time to make the pedestrian experience structurally safer, and make it more difficult for pedestrians to get into a dangerous situations.

Old cars breaking down. People who are forced to drive cars because they can’t find any jobs near their home and don’t have commuter train service, who have to replace their car because it’s breaking down.

So many road users using the road as if it is meant for them alone. I believe some kind of reorientation needs o be done for most of them. Else, accident due to human error would keep increasing. Also, authorities in charge of ensuring safety on highway has to be more effective in their own part.

A new report from the International Transport Forum shows America is only falling farther behind all of its peer nations on street safety. The traffic fatality rate in the United States is nearly four times higher than in the United Kingdom.

By taking caution and following strict traffic regulations we can be sure of safety. The statistics of deaths in the USA brings so much concern. Israel is doing well in all areas, and they are worthy of commendation. Closer caution should be put in place while driving.

Thanks for the close observation, and for taking the time out for this research. We could reduce avoidable deaths by putting more strict measure in place and defaulters should face the full wrath of the law; this would help road users to make the best decision and drive safely.

We could avoid many cases of accidents. We should take caution while driving on the highways. Thanks for this beautiful piece, and it is a reminder.

These facts and figures are very informative. I thought the USA would have the highest number of car accidents.

Traffic tragedies are one of the main reasons for death. Thank you for highlighting this issue, it was very informative and clear. I hope America can make a better place to live for its citizens. And innovate ways and implement speeding taxes to reduce accidents.
