Melissa McCracken Newton’s weight gain began about 15 years ago when her doctor discovered that she had hypothyroidism. “Frustrated, I became focused on the pleasure of food.” Even with medications, her blood pressure has run 132/82. She has developed sleep apnea and high blood pressure. She felt less attractive, less optimistic, withdrawn, and unhappy.
When she enrolled in the Bootcamp, she knew she had to take it by heart. The Globesity Foundation’s WEIGHT ANALYZER helped her discover her habits that were crucial to her weight gain. She made sure to understand the rules and embraced all aspects of the Healthy Weight Bootcamp. She learned to eat healthily, cut out dairy, fried foods, and junk foods, and became more active.
Since living the Bootcamp’s healthy lifestyle rules, her BP dropped to 117/79. Her thyroid number has stopped falling, and her cholesterol levels were (in her doctor’s words) “perfect!” Regular exercising also helped improve her bone density.\
Speaking about her favorite thing about the Bootcamp, Melissa said, “I am so glad we took accountability photos because this has encouraged me more than most things! When I look at my fat, ugly pictures and see how the nasty fat is melting away, I am inspired to continue to push forward and rid myself of it.”
“Doc said, ‘Keep living this lifestyle.’ I love when my doctor acknowledges my efforts. She said to me, ‘I am proud of how much you have learned and the direction your health is going.’ I can’t express how grateful I am to Don and the Bootcamp for helping me live a better lifestyle,” Melissa shared proudly.
