Private real estate lender Mera Investment Management has appointed Raj Bath as Director of Portfolio Management, Capital & Reporting.

A chartered accountant by training, Raj began his career at Dixon Wilson before joining Topland in 2012, where he played a pivotal role in building its lending division. He was instrumental in structuring loans, managing portfolios, and designing financial models and internal reporting systems. His appointment underscores Mera’s continued focus on operational excellence and growth.

Raj managed a substantial loan book at Topland, where he spent over 15 years and worked with now CEO of Mera, Edward Matthews.

As Mera’s Portfolio Manager, Raj will take a hands-on approach to loan and asset management and reporting.

He will work closely with the origination and underwriting teams and help develop the Mera proposition and processes.

    Raj comments:

“The opportunity to be involved in shaping a lender with the kind of vision and ambition for growth that Mera has is extremely exciting.

“Considering the relatively early stage the business is at, the structure and funding firepower that is already in place is an excellent indicator of its future in real estate lending.

“I am looking forward to driving our involvement in high quality deals and investments, particularly as opportunities continue to grow in today’s evolving market.”

    Edward Matthews comments:

“Mera is ramping up its lending and operations in a considered, sustainable way; adding a Portfolio Manager was the natural next step to ensure we maintain a best-in-class experience for our investors and borrowers.

“The level of experience and financial modelling skillset that Raj adds to the team is genuinely exciting and is exactly who we need to continue our strategic growth.

“In particular, the parts of the sector that we are seeing huge opportunity in—office, for example—demand dedicated loan and asset management support as these assets go through stabilisation and repositioning.”

Mera specialises in the financing of prime real estate assets—commercial, residential, and alternative—in London and the Home Counties, as well as core regional cities and growth areas across England and Wales.

After growing the team and building the company last year, Mera Investment Management is scaling up in 2025 and has strong growth ambitions for this year.  The financial firepower from a range of institutional and international private investors, alongside its family office backer, places the lender in good stead to meet those targets.
