ServiceNow Backs $40m BusinessNext Investment to Drive AI Banking Push

The ServiceNow newsroom confirmed the ServiceNow BusinessNext investment on 23 July 2026: a $40 million Series C stake in the Noida-based banking software specialist, valuing BusinessNext at $700 million and giving ServiceNow a roughly 5% holding.

For ServiceNow, the deal is less about the equity and more about distribution. BusinessNext founder and chief executive Nishant Singh said the company chose a strategic backer over financial investors specifically to access ServiceNow’s global sales infrastructure in markets where BusinessNext has a limited footprint.

‘Think of it as a strategic partnership, which is cemented with funding,’ Singh said.

    The ServiceNow BusinessNext Investment Case

BusinessNext, founded in 2002 and known as CRMNext until 2022, serves more than 70 banks across India, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and the United States. Its customers include the Reserve Bank of India, State Bank of India, and HDFC Bank. The company employs more than 1,300 people and, according to The SaaS News, its platform reaches 75,000 branches and digital touchpoints globally.

Revenue in the latest financial year came to about $32 million, with roughly half sourced from outside India. The company carries an existing investor base that includes Avataar Ventures, Norwest Venture Partners, and Ascent Capital, and has raised more than $60 million in external funding in total. Its prior valuation, set in 2021, stood at $181 million, per private market platform Tracxn.

The commercial logic rests on complementary coverage. BusinessNext handles customer-facing banking workflows; ServiceNow is stronger in back-office automation. Singh described the ambition as helping BusinessNext ‘borrow’ its go-to-market ‘machinery’ from ServiceNow in geographies where it lacks scale.

Kulmeet Bawa, ServiceNow’s group vice president and managing director for India and SAARC, framed the rationale in terms of a sector shift. ‘India’s financial services sector is at an inflection point, institutions are moving from digital experimentation to full-scale AI-led operations,’ he said, adding that the partnership pairs ServiceNow’s enterprise workflow platform with BusinessNext’s banking expertise.

Autonomous Banking and the APAC Expansion

BusinessNext positions its offering around what Singh calls an ‘autonomous banking’ platform, using AI agents to automate workflows while keeping sensitive customer data on private AI infrastructure to meet regulatory requirements. Singh told TechCrunch that AI was built into the platform from the outset rather than retrofitted. ‘We actually renamed our company and we kind of rewrote our stack to put that fundamentally at the core,’ he said.

That positioning has drawn independent validation. BusinessNext was ranked first globally in the Forrester Wave for Customer Relationship Management Software for Financial Services, Q1 2025, ahead of larger global vendors. Forrester cited the company’s out-of-the-box banking, financial services, and insurance workflows, ease of customisation, and its blend of predictive, generative, and agentic AI capabilities as differentiators. The ServiceNow press release frames the combined offering as delivering front-to-back AI orchestration for the banking industry.

The Series C capital will fund expansion into Australia and New Zealand alongside continued investment in agentic AI capabilities and private AI systems, according to a funding alert citing Inc42. The company’s platform already operates across more than 35 countries, spanning a product suite that covers customer relationship management, origination, risk, and branch operations, per its Red Hat catalog listing.

Recent customer wins underscore the westward push. In May 2026, General Electric Credit Union selected BusinessNext as its CRM platform to connect marketing, member service, and relationship management, according to the BusinessNext US site.

The ServiceNow BusinessNext investment lands as enterprise software vendors face a pointed question from customers: why pay for traditional SaaS tooling when AI-native alternatives are emerging? For ServiceNow, folding in a banking-specialist that already holds the top Forrester ranking and a profitable revenue base is one answer to that pressure. The harder test comes when the two companies begin selling jointly into markets where neither currently dominates, and ANZ will be the first read on whether the combined go-to-market machinery delivers what Singh is counting on.
