London, UK, 8th July 2024: British football enthusiasts are poised to inject £491.4 million into the UK economy during the Semi-Finals of the Men’s UEFA Euro 2024 tournament, according to a recent report.

The Men’s UEFA Euro 2024 Spending Report by, the UK’s leading discount site, forecasts that 26 million Brits will rally behind the Three Lions during the Semi-Finals on Wednesday, marking it as the tournament’s most watched stage to date.

Of these viewers, 19 million are expected to watch one or more games from home, driving total retail spending during this phase to £352.7 million as fans prepare for watch parties. Food and drink purchases will dominate, with approximately £259.5 million earmarked for snacks like pizzas, burgers, chicken wings, and crisps.

Capitalizing on favorable game times, an estimated £12.1 million will be spent on outdoor cooking products such as BBQs and pizza ovens. In anticipation of the matches, Brits are also projected to spend £39.6 million on sportswear, £16.3 million on electronics, and £8.2 million on decorations to enhance their viewing experience and cheer on the Three Lions.

Whilst retailers are expected to receive the largest boost, hospitality venues are set to welcome 15.7m new and returning visitors during the Semi-Finals, generating £138.7m. With supporters looking to soak up the atmosphere at their local, an estimated £78.1m will be spent on drinks and £60.6m on food.

A whopping 15.4m pints are also set to be consumed during England’s Semi-Final clash against The Netherlands alone, with 1.3m fans expected to flock to fan zones to watch the game.

When it comes to the England v The Netherlands match specifically, 26.8m fans are expected to tune in, spending £358.4m across retail and hospitality venues.

17.5m spectators are set to watch England’s big game from home, with retail spend expected to reach £256.5m, comprised primarily of £186.7m worth of food and drink.

With 9.2m fans flocking to their local pub, hospitality sales during the game are set to reach £101.9m. This equates to £59.3m in drink sales, and a further £42.6m in food sales during the game.
