ScottishPower Designates Lowestoft as Permanent Base for UK Offshore Wind with Multi-Million Pound Investment

ScottishPower Confirms Lowestoft as Long-Term Hub for Offshore Wind Operations with Major Investment

ScottishPower Renewables has officially designated Lowestoft as the central location for its UK offshore wind operations by acquiring a new site in the town’s PowerPark, thereby expanding its existing presence.

The company is committing approximately £8 million to purchase and develop the site on Trinity Road, which is currently occupied by RJ Pryce, set to relocate nearby. This new site will serve as a permanent base to support the execution of offshore wind projects in the East of England.

Strategically located close to the company’s operations and maintenance base for the East Anglia ONE offshore wind farm—situated on land owned by Associated British Ports at Lowestoft port—this site will operate under the existing 30-year lease.

The Trinity Road development is expected to accommodate around 100 personnel, primarily functioning as an operations and maintenance base for the East Anglia THREE offshore wind farm, which is currently under construction.

Charlie Jordan, CEO of ScottishPower Renewables (SPR), remarked, “Our ongoing commitment and investment in Lowestoft underscore the town’s significance as a hub for the clean energy sector in the East of England, and we’re here to stay. We are actively operating, constructing, and developing wind farms that will provide cleaner, greener energy for millions, delivering substantial environmental and economic benefits for years to come. This investment is a tremendous boost for both the town and the broader East Anglia region, affirming its status as the heart of our offshore wind operations in the UK.”

Ross Ovens, SPR’s Managing Director for Offshore Development and Operations, added, “It’s incredibly exciting that, six years after we began building our EA ONE base in Lowestoft, we’re now expanding our footprint and investment in the area. This development will not only support ScottishPower’s offshore wind initiatives but will also create a lasting positive impact on local communities. We are proud to contribute to the regeneration of the town and help shape a cleaner, greener, and brighter future for Lowestoft.”

Jess Asato, MP for Lowestoft, expressed, “ScottishPower’s commitment to establishing Lowestoft as a long-term hub for its UK offshore wind operations is transformative for our town, offering significant economic benefits. This multi-million-pound investment will not only support our wind farms but also generate local jobs, enhancing employment in green energy. This project is a crucial step toward regenerating Lowestoft and solidifying its position as a leader in the clean energy sector, ensuring long-term advantages for the community.”
