INTO University Partnerships’ Foundation Medicine Programme Records Stellar Performance
INTO University Partnerships’ foundation programme in medicine and health has recorded exceptional performance, with the majority of its students securing conditional offers for medical degrees both within the UK and abroad.
In the 2023 cohort, 70% of international students aspiring to a medical career have been offered places on a five-year MBBS degree programme.
Initiated in April 2022, the programme is hosted at the INTO London Centre and commenced with its first group of international students in September 2022. Students in this foundation course have the opportunity to progress to several top universities globally, including numerous institutions in the QS Top 150, and to pursue various high-demand health profession degrees.
The curriculum of the foundation programme includes modules in biology, chemistry, mathematics, and research skills, alongside two bespoke medicine modules offered exclusively at INTO London. These modules are Advanced Sciences for Medicine, which builds on the students’ scientific knowledge tailored towards medical applications, and Professional and Communication Skills for Medicine, aimed at equipping students with the necessary skills for medical interviews and effective healthcare practice.
Nara from South Korea, a student in the initial cohort, has received unconditional offers to study medicine at Aston University and at Queen Mary University of London, Malta Campus.
Nara shared her experience, stating, “As an international student, it’s very important to know how to communicate well. At INTO, I take part in English classes and improve my academic writing, and how to prepare for presentations – this really helped me when writing personal statements. I also have 1-1 sessions with the university progression and career manager, during which I discuss personal statements and they provide feedback for applying to university medical schools.”
Furthermore, 95% of the foundation programme students have secured offers from UK universities for a variety of medical-related degrees. Those who did not receive offers for medicine have been accepted into other related courses such as Biomedical Sciences, Medical Sciences, Pharmacology, and Biology at renowned universities including Bristol University, Queen Mary University of London, Aston University, and University of Central Lancashire (UCLan).
Robin Peel, the Centre Director at INTO London, commented, “We have designed this foundation programme in medicine and health professions to give our students the best chance of getting into and being successful on their chosen health degree with excellent progression options, a guaranteed interview at a UK medical school and unique specialist modules.”
INTO University Partnerships provides extensive support during the application process to university programmes, including a part-time online University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT) preparation course during the summer before the foundation programme begins.
Students benefit from personalized support through one-on-one meetings and are guided through the application process in group sessions. The University Progression and Careers Manager at INTO London arranges workshops for personal statements, guest lectures, and masterclasses from medical professionals, in addition to interview preparation and practice.
INTO London students frequently attend practical classes in the ‘Superlab’ at London Metropolitan University, which is among the largest laboratories in Europe. This facility is a focal point for academic and professional development, where students hone their lab skills, enhance their English language proficiency in a scientific setting, and learn to confidently handle lab equipment.
The INTO London Centre offers bespoke university preparation programmes guaranteeing entry to over 100 universities across the UK and Europe. Located near London’s bustling financial district and the culturally rich districts of Spitalfields, Brick Lane, and Shoreditch, the centre provides a vibrant and dynamic educational experience.
Since its inception in 2005, INTO University Partnerships has supported over 150,000 students from more than 180 countries in achieving their academic goals at top universities in the US, UK, and Australia.
