The story of how a London startup is on a mission to combat a digital dependency harming men’s health

A UK startup has attracted more than £1.6 million in investment as part of its mission to tackle the devastating long-term damage caused by addictions to pornography.

50,000 people flock to Remojo every month, with the app offering users a warchest of smart tools designed to eliminate the consumption of adult content (with willpower rarely enough on its own to kick the habit).

Features include AI technology to block out porn websites and ‘tracking’ to monitor progress, as well as discipline techniques, meditations to overcome urges, and support forums.

Millions of men in the digital era have developed obsessive habits and unrealistic expectations of sex after watching adult content from young ages – with the average modern male first exposed to porn at just 11 years old.

Around 39% of 15 to 29-year-olds watch porn every day*. Studies have suggested this intense consumption has created many health issues for males, with adult content blamed for changing erectile dysfunction (ED) rates: 28% of men under 40 now suffer from ED vs just 5% in 2001**.

According to expert Noah Church – an author and expert in pornography recovery – growing up under the influence of porn has prevented modern men from experiencing intimacy, with porn habits leaving them “distracted, dissatisfied, and disconnected from others.”

Remojo was launched to help tackle this problem. The company opened its HQ in Shoreditch in 2019 and now has employees all over the world.

Founder Jack Jenkins believes this is only the beginning, with the brand embarking on a big push to get more than 100 million men to pack-in porn forever and get a lust for life instead.

“We’re getting 50k users a month joining this fast movement,” Jenkins explains.

“Men all over the world are waking up to what they consume and how they live their lives.

“Our users want to quit porn to free their mind, achieve a better sex life and live by their values.”

Remojo is available for smartphones and desktops alike – operating around the world on Android, iOS, Mac and Windows systems.
